Summary
We are looking for a passionate and inquisitive journalist based in Malaysia to cover the country's marketing, business, creative, media, PR and entrepreneurship ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys uncovering compelling stories, building relationships with industry leaders, and producing original content that informs and inspires our audience across Southeast Asia.

The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping our editorial coverage while contributing to the growth of our events, newsletters, and digital platforms.
This position reports to the editorial team and offers opportunities for professional development, regional exposure, and progression into editorial leadership, content strategy, or event-hosting roles.
Responsibilities
- Research, identify, and develop original story ideas focused on entrepreneurs, marketers, startups, business leaders, and emerging industry trends in Malaysia.
- Write accurate, engaging, and well-researched news articles, feature stories, interviews, and analysis pieces that align with editorial standards and audience interests.
- Manage and contribute to the daily newsletter by sourcing, creating, and curating timely and relevant content.
- Build and maintain relationships with founders, executives, marketers, investors, industry associations, and other key stakeholders within the Malaysian business ecosystem.
- Conduct interviews with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and subject matter experts to gather insights and perspectives.
- Attend press conferences, product launches, networking sessions, industry conferences, and business events throughout Malaysia.
- Produce content across multiple formats, including website articles, social media posts, podcasts, videos, and live event coverage.
- Identify and report on emerging trends, market developments, and noteworthy business stories that are relevant to audiences across Southeast Asia.
- Collaborate with editors, designers, videographers, and other team members to deliver high-quality multimedia content.
- Contribute to the success of the company's events through moderating panel discussions, hosting sessions, conducting speaker interviews, emceeing, and live reporting.
- Represent the brand professionally at industry events and networking opportunities.
- Monitor content performance and audience engagement using analytics tools to inform editorial decisions.
- Travel domestically and internationally when required to cover events, conduct interviews, and support company initiatives.
- Create engaging content for social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant channels.
- Ensure all reporting adheres to journalistic ethics, editorial standards, and fact-checking requirements.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in journalism, editorial, content marketing, copywriting, or a related content-driven role.
- Experience covering business, startups, technology, marketing, entrepreneurship, or related sectors is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience conducting interviews with senior executives, founders, and industry leaders is an advantage.
- Experience hosting events, moderating discussions, or speaking publicly is a plus but not mandatory.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, English, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
Skills
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong news judgment and ability to identify compelling stories and trends.
- Excellent interviewing, research, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with journalistic ethics, reporting standards, and fact-checking processes.
- Proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and digital publishing tools.
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics or similar audience measurement tools.
- Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, Audition) is advantageous.
- Ability to create content across written, visual, audio, and video formats.
- Strong understanding of the Malaysian business ecosystem and interest in Southeast Asian markets.
