Internship Scope: E-Commerce & Marketplace Operations Intern
Department: Digital / E-Commerce
Internship Duration: 3-6 Months
Supervisor: E-Commerce Manager / Senior Executive
1. Internship Objective
This internship is designed to give you a real-world, 360-degree view of how an e-commerce business operates. You will learn the full cycle of digital retail—from product listing strategy and website development to campaign analysis. By the end of this internship, you will have hands-on experience managing live storefronts and a foundational understanding of data-driven decision-making.
2. Key Learning Areas & Responsibilities
A. Product & Marketplace Management
- Product Uploads: Assist in uploading, updating, and maintaining accurate product information across all assigned e-commerce marketplaces (e.g., Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop).
- Inventory & Content: Assist with data entry, inventory updates, and general content management as needed to keep stores running smoothly.
B. Website Development, Campaigns & Calendar Coordination
- Webstore Development: Monitor and track webstore development progress, coordinating with internal teams (e.g., IT, Marketing) and external vendors/agencies when required.
- Project Documentation: Record and maintain detailed webstore development execution logs, status updates, and project documentation for future reference.
- Timeline Coordination: Coordinate campaign timelines, promotional schedules, and content deployment across all digital channels to ensure everything goes live on time.
- Learning to Interpret: You will be guided on how to read these numbers and spot basic trends (e.g., "Why did sales spike on Tuesday?").
C. Administrative & Operational Support
- Ad-Hoc Tasks: Perform general administrative and operational tasks related to e-commerce and digital marketing initiatives.
- Versatility: Assist the wider team with data entry, inventory synchronization, and urgent content management tasks whenever needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
D. Special Project Ownership (The "Portfolio Builder")
- Growth Opportunity: If you show initiative and grasp the basics quickly, we will assign you a mini project to manage independently (under supervision).
- Examples: This could be launching a single "Test Product" from start to finish, creating a competitor analysis deck, or suggesting a new promotion mechanic.
- Goal: This is designed to give you a tangible accomplishment to put on your resume and a real case study for your future interviews.
3. What You Will Gain (Learning Outcomes)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in marketplace seller dashboards, website CMS (Content Management Systems), basic design tools, and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of how e-commerce P&L (Profit & Loss) and project workflows work.
- Portfolio Piece: A completed project you can showcase in future job applications.
- Mentorship: Direct feedback sessions with your supervisor to review your progress.
4. Who We Are Looking For (Fit & Attitude)
Since this is an internship, we don't expect you to know everything. We are looking for:
- A Fast Learner: You are comfortable with technology and can pick up new software/tools quickly.
- Detail-Conscious: You notice when a price is wrong, a date is mismatched, or a web feature is broken.
- Organized: You can keep track of multiple timelines and documentation without getting lost.
- Curious & Proactive: You ask "Why?" and want to understand the reasoning behind business decisions.
- Team Player: Willing to help out with administrative tasks where needed, even if it's outside the strict "job scope."
5. Support & Supervision
- You will have a buddy/supervisor assigned to guide you through every task throughout the internship
- Regularly check-in meetings will be held to discuss your learning progress, not just your output.
- Mistakes are expected—they are part of the learning process. We focus on teaching you how to fix them.
Summary for the Intern:
"You will spend 65% of your time learning daily operations (listings, website testing, campaigns, reporting), 25% coordinating with teams, and 10% on administrative support. If you excel, you will get a 'live' project to call your own."
