  • Able to commit to the internship duration required by the educational institution.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Baker / Pastry Intern to join our production team. This internship offers hands-on experience in artisan baking, pastry preparation, food production and kitchen operations within a professional café and bakery environment.

You will work closely with our bakers/pastry team to learn the fundamentals of producing high-quality baked goods while gaining practical experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Baking & Pastry Production

  • Assist in the preparation and production of breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods.
  • Support daily mise en place and ingredient preparation.
  • Weigh, measure and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production schedules.
  • Assist with mixing, shaping, proofing, baking, decorating and finishing products.
  • Ensure consistency in product quality, taste and presentation.

Production Operations

  • Support daily production planning and execution.
  • Assist with packing, labeling and storing finished products.
  • Maintain proper stock rotation and storage practices following FIFO principles.
  • Help monitor ingredient inventory and notify supervisors of low stock levels.

Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Follow food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Ensure equipment, tools and production areas are cleaned and maintained properly.
  • Adhere to company policies and standard operating procedures.

Product Development & Learning

  • Assist with recipe testing and product trials when required.
  • Learn baking techniques, ingredient functionality and production methods.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
  • Demonstrate initiative, curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Team Support & Culture

  • Work collaboratively with the bakery, pastry, kitchen and café teams.
  • Support production during peak periods and special events.
  • Assist with other operational duties as assigned by supervisors.
