Job Description

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (SPM/'O' Level) is required for this entry-level position.

  • No prior dental assisting experience is necessary; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.

  • Ability to perform basic patient assessment and understand patient needs.

  • Willingness to learn and provide patient education on dental hygiene and post-operative care.

  • Demonstrate empathy and a caring attitude towards patients, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience.

  • Proficiency in English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia is essential for clear communication with a diverse patient base.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment within a busy dental practice.

  • Willingness to adhere to strict hygiene and sterilization protocols.

  • Basic computer literacy for administrative tasks and patient record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, extractions, and root canals, by preparing the treatment room, sterilizing instruments, and handing instruments and materials to the dentist.

  • Provide chairside assistance to the dentist, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow during patient treatments.

  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist, ensuring proper patient positioning and radiation safety protocols are followed.

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care instructions, and treatment plans, answering their questions and addressing concerns with empathy and clarity.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes, medical history, and radiographic images, using the clinic's electronic health record system.

  • Manage and maintain inventory of dental supplies and instruments, ensuring adequate stock levels and reporting any shortages or needs for reordering.

  • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment according to established protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.

  • Prepare patients for dental procedures by explaining the process, ensuring their comfort, and addressing any anxieties they may have.

  • Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as pouring impressions and preparing study models, as required for specific treatments.
