Position Overview
We are seeking a Jira Developer to customize, automate, and extend our Atlassian Jira environment, with a strong focus on ScriptRunner (Groovy). You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business and workflow requirements into reliable, well-documented Jira solutions, and help drive process automation and continuous improvement across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Jira customizations using ScriptRunner — scripted fields, workflow conditions/validators/post-functions, behaviours, listeners, scheduled jobs, custom JQL functions, and REST endpoints.
- Configure and administer Jira projects, workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, and dashboards.
- Build and automate processes using ScriptRunner and Jira automation rules.
- Develop and maintain integrations between Jira and other systems via REST APIs and webhooks.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance; support upgrades and migrations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience as a Jira Developer or Atlassian administrator.
- Strong hands-on experience with ScriptRunner for Jira (Groovy scripting).
- Proficiency in Groovy and/or Java.
- Solid understanding of Jira administration: workflows, schemes, custom fields, and permissions.
- Experience working with REST APIs and system integrations.
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other Atlassian tools such as Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jira Service Management.
- Experience across both Jira Cloud and Data Center/Server environments, including migrations.
- Familiarity with additional Jira apps and automation frameworks.
- Atlassian or ScriptRunner certifications.
- Experience with CI/CD and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
