Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Engineers plays a critical role in supporting ME department’s objectives to ensure operational readiness and efficiency in a high-volume production environment. This position requires strong technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to achieve manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Readiness & Workstation Setup
Support and execute ME deliverables in preparing assembly workstations for production startup. Verify tooling availability and station configuration against established criteria.
Identify and implement appropriate manufacturing tools to enable seamless operations.
Assembly & Technical Competence
Apply knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly fundamentals, subsystem integration, and electronic component handling. Manage PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) processes with precision; prior experience in PCBA environments and ESD compliances is required.
Demonstrate proficiency in soldering, electronics, and assembly methodologies. Adhere strictly to workplace safety guidelines and maintain a strong safety mindset. Apply knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions in handling sensitive components.
Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance
Diagnose and resolve workstation issues promptly to minimize downtime, identify improvement opportunities. Conduct inspections using hand tools, power tools, specialized equipment, and jigs to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Ensure compliances with QMS and ISO audit requirements to harvest excellent production capabilities for assembly line.
Technical Documentation & Interpretation
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate workstation setup. Prior experiences in digital WI and MES application will be advantageous.
Document findings and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Execute tasks using digital work instructions enhanced with sequential steps and visual diagrams to ensure accuracy.
Maintenance & Spare Parts Management
Create preventive maintenance plan to sustain workstation and tooling performance. Collect data and provide timely report in maintenance KPI (MTBF, MTTR) to improve tool availability across assembly process. Manage spare parts inventory to ensure uninterrupted production activities. Must have TPM knowledge and practical experiences in EMS industry assembly line sustaining.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and internal stakeholders to meet production targets. Communicate effectively and operate independently with minimal supervision. He/She must have abilities to drive external suppliers to ensure engineering design meets the requirements.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering from a recognized University, College, or Polytechnic.
Prior experience in an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment is highly desirable.
Proficiency in office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and AutoCAD/Solidworks for documentation, reporting, and technical drawing interpretation. Experiences in MES Digital Manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
