Architectural Engineer is responsible for monitoring and supervising architectural works at construction sites to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The role supports the Estate & Campus Development Department in delivering campus construction, renovation, and infrastructure projects by overseeing on-site activities, coordinating technical disciplines, and maintaining proper inspection and documentation records.

1. Site Supervision & Quality Control

• Supervise on-site architectural works to ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Inspect construction quality and verify material compliance for building, decoration, and renovation works.
• Participate in inspection and testing activities to ensure workmanship and materials meet required standards.
• Monitor contractor workmanship and ensure adherence to approved construction methodologies.

2. Drawings & Technical Compliance

• Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure accuracy and alignment with construction requirements
• Ensure all construction works comply with relevant Malaysian building regulations and statutory requirements, including the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL).
• Identify discrepancies between drawings, specifications, and site conditions, and escalate issues when necessary.

3. Technical Coordination

• Coordinate technical matters between architectural, structural, and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) disciplines.
• Assist in resolving technical issues arising during construction works.
• Provide responses to Requests for Information (RFI) and facilitate communication between consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.

4. Material Evaluation & Technical Assessment

• Conduct material selection reviews and prepare technical comparisons for architectural materials.
• Verify that materials delivered to the site comply with approved specifications and project standards.

5. Project Monitoring & Meetings

• Participate in project progress meetings and technical coordination meetings.
• Monitor site progress and report construction status to the Construction & Infrastructure team.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Compile engineering reports, inspection records, and site observation reports
• Maintain proper documentation of site inspections and testing activities.
• Assist in preparing and verifying As-Built Drawings upon completion of construction works.

7. General & Ad-hoc Responsibilities

• Undertake any other duties and ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the immediate superior or Head of Department from time to time.

Requirements:
1. Education
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related built environment discipline.

2. Experience
a) Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction supervision, preferably in building projects.

3. Knowledge & Skills
a) Strong understanding of architectural drawings, construction methods, and building materials.
b) Knowledge of Malaysian building regulations, including UBBL.
c) Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (Architecture, Structure, and M&E).
d) Good technical problem-solving and communication skills.
e) Ability to prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate site documentation.

4. Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
a) Possession of CIDB Green Card.
b) Registration with the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) or other relevant professional bodies.
