Home Town was originally founded as a food stall in 1999. As the consumption patterns started to change in the early 2000's threatening the survival of the business, Home Town was transformed to a restaurant in 2003 serving Pulau Ketam Steamboat.

Home Town was ranked No. 1 in the “Best Restaurants in Malaysia” list, released by Malaysia-based food website, The Daily Meal; and best chain for travelers by 8TV channel.
