Lighthouse Children And Welfare Association

The Lighthouse Children’s Welfare Home is a registered charity which began 11 years’ ago. It is a safe home for 54 vulnerable children, but what makes it different from regular charitable institutions, is that it is a family run home. The children live with the Lighthouse founders, Steven and Jacinta, who provide a nurturing and secure environment. The focus is raising the children in a loving, family-orientated, home, with every effort made to keep siblings together.

All the children come from poverty, but some come from homes with addictions and abuse. Within this home environment special attention is given to the children’s individual needs and interests. Most of the children take part in the state education system and where necessary extra tuition is provided to meet the children’s needs. They also get the chance to develop individual skills, such as music, a new language, photography or sport.
