Role Description This is a contract, on-site Database Administrator role based in WP. Kuala Lumpur. The Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Daily tasks include monitoring database health, managing backups and recovery, applying patches, and optimizing queries. The role involves designing and modifying database structures, implementing replication and failover strategies, and troubleshooting database-related incidents. The Database Administrator will collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployments, resolve issues, and implement best practices for data integrity and reliability.

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Computer Software/Systems Engineering, Electronics, IT, Mathematics, or Operational Research.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in database maintenance and administration, particularly with Oracle and MSSQL.

ITIL V3 Foundation Certification preferred.

Oracle/MSSQL Certified Professional preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of RDBMS and operating system architectures, with proven troubleshooting skills.

Experience in managing enterprise-level database environments with a focus on performance optimization and security

Job Descriptions

Install new RDBMS software and create databases in line with recommended standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Configure and monitor high availability (HA) setups and database caching.

Perform RDBMS patches or bundled patches in a timely manner to keep the environment secure and efficient.

Monitor and evaluate storage requirements, including RAW disk management, and develop capacity plans to forecast database growth.
