Job Description

Responsibilities

Hong Kong Microelectronics Research and Development Institute (MRDI) is established to seize the huge potential market for third-generation semiconductors and align with the national strategy for technological development. 

The vision is for the MRDI to play a leading role in strengthening collaboration with the industry, academia, and research sectors, expediting the "1 to N" transformation of scientific research outcomes, promoting technological innovation, and assisting the industry in enhancing efficiency as well as achieving upgrading and transformation.

The MRDI is looking for a dynamic and high-calibre professional to fill the position of Warehouse Manager, who will provide all-round warehouse operation support in MEC, Yuen Long.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Manage end-to-end warehouse operations: receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and returns; ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance.

·        Own inventory control and accuracy: cycle counts, root-cause analysis for variances, reconciliation, and governance of inventory adjustments in WMS/ERP.

·        Establish and enforce semiconductor-relevant handling controls, including ESD protection practices (ESD-safe packaging, grounded handling processes, audits and training) and contamination/damage prevention for high-value parts.

·        Maintain storage integrity for sensitive items (e.g., moisture-sensitive devices, temperature- or humidity-sensitive materials) by implementing defined storage conditions, labeling and FIFO/FEFO controls where applicable.

·        Lead warehouse safety, security and housekeeping: risk assessments, equipment checks, incident investigations, and preventive actions; ensure safe operation of forklifts/material handling equipment.

·        labor and shift schedules; lead, coach and develop warehouse supervisors/operators; manage performance, training and discipline as needed.

·        Control warehouse costs and productivity: define KPIs (inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock, pick accuracy, order cycle time), track performance, and drive lean/continuous improvement initiatives.

·        Manage warehouse layout, location master data and slotting to optimize space utilization and picking efficiency; oversee racking, packing stations and consumables.

·        Ensure correct segregation and traceability of lots/serial numbers where required; maintain audit-ready records and participate in internal/external audits as assigned.

·        Own SOPs and work instructions for warehouse processes; ensure changes are trained, implemented and sustained.

·        Inbound and outbound handling, inventory management, and emergency response for semiconductor high-volume materials such as chemicals, specialty gases, and photoresists.

·        Inventory management of semiconductor equipment spare parts.

·        Support the quality department in completing quality system certifications.

REQUIREMENTS

·        Familiar with warehouse management and emergency handling of semiconductor materials (e.g., chemicals, specialty gases, and photoresists).

·        Diploma or above in Logistics/Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.

·        5+ years of warehouse operations experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory/managerial role.

·        Experience in semiconductor, electronics manufacturing services (EMS), high-tech distribution, or other high-value/low-tolerance environments.

·        Hands-on experience with WMS/ERP, RF scanning/barcoding, and inventory control practices (cycle counts, variance control, KPI reporting).

·        Working knowledge of ESD controls and safe handling/packaging of electronics/semiconductor components.

·        Strong people leadership skills: training, coaching, scheduling and performance management.

·        Good communication skills in English and Cantonese (Mandarin is a plus).

·        Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

·        Knowledge of ISO-style quality systems and participation in customer/supplier audits.

·        Forklift license and experience with reach truck/stacker operations is preferred.

·        Warehouse-based role in Hong Kong; may require shift coverage and occasional overtime based on shipment schedules.

·        Requires walking/standing in a warehouse environment and occasional lifting of cartons (within safe limits) and use of material handling equipment.

·        May involve working in controlled areas and following ESD requirements (e.g., ESD footwear/strap, smock) depending on site setup.

Note: The level of responsibility and complexity of tasks will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The initial employment contract spans 12 months and can be renewed with a longer tenure upon mutual agreement of the incumbent and MRDI. The incumbent will normally work five days a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A gratuity of 15% of the salary will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
