BWYS Steel, originally known as BW Yee Seng Hardware Trading Sdn Bhd, began its operations in 1999, specializing in the trading of steel products. Over the years, the company expanded its portfolio, acquiring a 3-acre land in Bukit Mertajam in 2006 to supply scaffoldings and later venturing into building materials and hardware trading. In 2011, YS Success, a subsidiary, diversified into manufacturing roofing sheets and industrial racking systems, acquiring the "Metech" brand. YS Global, another subsidiary, commenced business in 2015 as a carbon steel welded pipes manufacturer. In 2017, the company underwent a restructuring, consolidating operations under BWYS Steel, BW Scaffold, YS Success, and YS Global. Notably, the company made strides in international markets, exporting industrial racking systems to various countries. BWYS Steel continued its expansion, acquiring land in 2021 for the construction of the New Penang Factory and establishing a branch office in Kota Kinabalu to serve customers in Sabah.
