Let’s face it guys, we are all lazy potatoes deep down. I know for a fact that most of you reading this wake up almost everyday fighting with yourself and thinking “MC mou?” “Job really worth it ah?” and then go to work after a few minutes of arguing with yourself and enjoying your bed.

Most of us who do that will reach a point and just take leave or MC, to release all that stress and frustration for work. But there’s only so much MC’s we can take before our boss hentam us kawkaw because we’re *uhuk uhuk* sick *uhuk uhuk* every week. So, instead of taking MC, here are types of leaves you can take to go and get paid!

Annual Leave

Annual leave is godsend. Once you start working for more than a year, you are entitled to take minimum 8 paid days off a year. Want to go travel? Annual leave. No mood work? Annual leave. Want a longer weekend? Annual leave. Get paid to do all this. BUT, most companies will ask you for a weeks notice in advance lah, so plan and prepare beforehand.

Don’t forget, if you ponteng too much work, your company WILL NOT give you annual leaves. So try to not be too lazy lah, so you can reward yourself by being even lazier!

Sick Leave

Ah this one lah, everyone’s favourite. As long as you have an MC, you are free to take a paid day off. On average, you can only take about 14+ days MC in a year depending on where you work, or up to 60 days IF you kena until you need to go to the hospital. Don’t forget to inform your employers about your MC as well if not they turn around and arrow you, claiming that you never informed them.

(Eh psst psst, extra tip for you gaiz, you cannot be fired for taking too many MCs. shh you did not hear this from me.)

Other than that, nothing much to say about this that you all don’t already know, because who are we kidding, we’ve been doing this since we were kids faking sickness so we don’t have to go to school haha #sorrynotsorry.

Public Holidays

You are entitled to public holidays and your employers must pay you for it. If you have to ganti someone on one of these holidays, actually by law your company has to give you a different day off as substitution. Like in school lah, sometimes we go on Saturday and then we ganti balik. Good thing about living in Malaysia is that we everytime also got public holiday, so it benefits us lazy potatoes. Look at September wei, for almost the whole month you get Mondays off!

Maternity Leave

If you are a boy, sorry la bro this one you cannot take. But sis, you lucky, you can get up to 2-3 months paid leave if you are expecting while working at the company for more than 4 months. Your salary becomes a monthly maternity allowance. Right now the laws on minimum maternity leave is a bit wonky, but we all hope that the government will regulate and bump it up to 3 months, because sis, you deserve it!

FFK because u kena fk’d

This one you don’t get paid to take, but it is good to know regardless. If for some reason you kena catch by police, thrown into lockup, have to go to court and all that, of course you won’t be able to show up to work. But guess what, SURPRISE SURPRISE, you won’t get paid either. You will also probably be fired from your company because most of them don’t want to have an employee that will make their image look bad.

There is only one way for you to not only get away, but get paid for it is, if you are there not because you were being stupid, but because your boss was stupid and you cover his @ss and go to court on his behalf.

IMPORTANT, remember kids, know your rights

So there you have it, the types of leaves in Malaysia you can take to FFK your boss and chill out a bit. Do what you want with this information, and stay rich, stay healthy, stay happy! <3
